We had coffee with Phil and Yvonne recently, which was a pleasure as we hadn't seen them for a while. But Prospero had to tell Phil off because we haven't received any of his stunning photos lately - so he pointed us to this one: beautiful drops of water on a spider's web! But they're busy with rescuing plants and trees in their garden, which has been suffering from the frost of the last week. Yes, and they agree we need rain very badly.

More photos added to 'People of the Summer (4)'
Just a few new pics added to that album. You can see all our Picasa Web Albums by clicking on the picture of the baby on the sidebar. Our albums are in constant upheaval as we store some 15,000 photos there - yes, 15,000 pictures we've been taking since JimenaPulse went online in March 2007. It is important for our readers to note that all our photos are COPYRIGHT; you may not use them for any purpose whatsoever without our express permission. To do so means you could be prosecuted. We are working on a way for a selection of the better ones to be available for purchase.

If you think we took photos ...
| Ricardo Gómez, alias TioJimeno |
As always, our friends at TioJimeno took photos and videos of the whole feria. Indeed, Ricardo Gómez, TioJimeno himself, could be seen behind his camera at all the events - several of which we did not cover. His madly successful site is chock full of photos - several of which were taken by Ricardo or one of his many contributors (we could do with some of those, folks! Send your photos in, please!!) long after Prospero had retired, exhausted, to bed. Well, Ricardo is younger...

Spring is here, and so is Monday
Today is the first day of Spring, not that Nature can read calendars and almanacs. Officially, Spring arrives at the Spring Equinox, which is round about just now. So let's just celebrate the fact that there should be more sunshine until at least September (have you checked the WeatherWidget lately?), by which time we'll all be panting for Autumn and Winter again. About the photo: who else would have arranged the snails and the slug so carefully on such a lovely Spring photo, and then call it 'That Monday Morning Feeling'? You're right, none other than Phil Heinzl, our regular contributor of all things weird and wonderful (just for a lark, copy his name into the Search thingy at the top of the right sidebar and see what happens...)

Photos of the eclipse
Some of the best pictures of the year's first eclipse of the sun are published in the world media, many of which you will be able to see if you click on the Intenationl Press widget on the sidebar that will take you to the world's top newspapers. On a more local level, though, today's online edition of Europa Sur, the Campo de Gibraltar's 'newspaper of reference', has a good selection of them, one of which is the photo that illustrates this item.

It was dark and stormy night....
"...everyone likes lightning ...pictures that is," says Phil Heinzl, who grabbed this one of last night's storm (Thank you, Phil!). According to our (and other) weather widgets, it will probably be dark and stormy tonight as well. But here's a curious thing: the weather widget on CampoPulse, the same source as ours here, says that Christmas Day in Algeciras will be cold but sunny. (Note: Can anybody tell us where we got our headline from? It's not original...)

Reflection of my home, by Phil Heinzl
Not long ago we featured a series of photos by Gonzalo Polo under the title Reflections of Jimena. This one is a single picture taken by Phil Heinzl of his home as reflected in a drop of water (Click to enlarge). Amazing! See more of Phil's work on his JimenArte page. JimenArte is a OneLine (that's us, formally) partner site that offers FREE exhibition space to artists from the Campo de Gibraltar and was created in memory of Phil Bullrich, Prospero's mother. (Need some new stuff for your page, Phil!)

It's Monday morning, I feel lonely
Phil Heinzl, our photographer extraordinaire has done it again. He sent in this picture that illustrates the Monday Morning Feeling he has illustrated in the past (here and here, for instance). To us, this one has the added poignancy of loneliness. Like "Where's everyone gone?" or "Is it just me that feels like this?" Heck, you know the feeling...
You can check out some more of Philip's work on his page on JimenArte, a JimenaPulse partner site, and a FREE exhibition space for artists lof all kinds.

It's Friday, let's be happy!
We had to share this with you...
... a beautiful photo by Gonzalo Polo. He is an artist temporarily living in Jimena - his Facebook page is titled Jimenato por un Rato and is worth checking out, particularly two albums: Reflexiones de Jimena (Reflections of Jimena, which we've featured before) and A la Sombra de Jimena (In the Shadow of Jimena, which we haven't).

It's Monday, is this how you feel?
This is becoming a nice co-operative habit. Phil Heinzl sends in an appropriate picture to what he calls The Monda Morning Feeling, and we publish it. Thanks, Phil. (Shhh: in our reply to his e-mail we said we'd forgotten what Monday mornings felt like as they're all like this now... but don't tell anyone.) If you need to look more closely at the dog's teeth, just click on the photo. Actually, there's more to this item. We're planning a special Nature section, or possibly a separate/linked site, where Mother Nature will have her way with our -and your- photos. We're looking for a good name for it, can you help?

Reflections of Jimena
Gonzalo Polo is an artist. A painter, sculptor, photographer, web designer - a creative talent, in other words, who is 'just passing through' the village, though he seems to have been here for a while. He has kindly sent us a series of photos he has placed on Facebook that he describes as follows: Jimena vista a través de sus reflejos, reflejos que a veces se doblan, reflejos que se invierten...sólo reflejos...y más reflejos. Nada es verdad...todo es mentira. Jimena seen through its reflections, reflections that are sometimes doubled, reflections that are inverted...only reflections...and more reflections. Nothing is true ... everything's a lie. (Please send in any photos you think we'd like to put up here, preferably of where you live or have visited, with a little description of the place and of yourself - or send us a link to your pictures.)

Sunrise over Jimena
Here's a new gadget (which we're getting used to and will improve). This is a slide created via Photobucket, where we will be storing most, not all (of over 11,000) of our photos. We hope this doesn't slow everything down. The photos are strictly COPYRIGHT, even if they're shown in a public site - and incidentally, they're not bad, not bad at all. (Prospero note: got up early this morning; all for you, Dear Reader)

Not just a pretty face!
At the considerable risk of becoming a highly specialised site (come to think of it, it might be more lucrative), we have acceeded to our friend Phil Heinzl's request for information on this pretty little insect, of which more photos below, including a highly scientific one. Below you will also see his e-mail to us, which is illustrative of Phil's ongoing quest for knowledge. The fact that he spends so much time taking photos of bugs and frogs and dogs and rainbows and lightning is probably illustrative of a certain imbalance, something his lovely wife Yvonne might confirm. (See Philip's JimenArte page here)>
The hell with Monday - I'm on holiday!
So says our friend the frog (by Phil Heinzl). Lucky frog, we're not on holiday, and it's Monday again!
