Lots of comments, too many people called Anonymous

We're very grateful for all the comments we've been getting lately (See the latest on the sidebar), but ,alas, many of them have come in anonymously. As it also says on the sidebar 'We do not (always) publish anonymous comments'. That piece refers our less tech-minded readers -all panting to make a comment, no doubt- to an article titled HOW TO POST A COMMENT. Please read it and digest an easy step-by-step guide about ... well, posting a comment that is not anonymous. It is actually quite easy, all you need is a modicum of patience (Note: this last sentence is aimed at two very special readers who will know who they are.)

Reader's Choice will be back as from this Saturday!

(Prospero to monkeys: Tomorrow is Saturday! How you gonna do that? Monkeys to Prospero: Easy, boss! We just go out there and ask our Dear Readers to send in stuff!) One of this site's favourite features has been missing for a while. Reader's Choice is what our readers send in. Usually, it's a YouTube clip or a link to one, of a favourite piece of music. Sometimes it's just a mention of a favourite comedian, or whatever. If you type in readers choice in the Search field at the top of the sidebar, you'll get the idea. But we'll get the ball rolling: What was the first record, album, CD or vynil, you ever bought? Please send in as many details as you can and we'll try to find it. Go on, let's have some fun! New site feature and What Have You Missed On CampoPulse?

You may have noticed our new 'You might also like' feature at the bottom of each post. The items that come up there do so automatically, and refer to previous posts, so if you see something you might like to check on, just click on the image. As you will have noticed, too, there isn't much going up here on JimenaPulse, but that's because there's more going on in the Campo de Gibraltar than in this little corner of it, so make sure you head over there every now and then to catch up on our surrounding area. (and don't forget that we'll be moving everything over to that site by the end of the year, so put it, CampoPulse, in your favourites already, why not. Oh, and we're reviving the Readers' Choice and Have a Laugh weekend features, too - watch this space!

CampoPulse now listed on Expat Blog

You will have noticed a widget (love that word!) on our sidebar: Expat Blog. It is a collection of blogs about expats the world over. CampoPulse is now listed on that site. It is worth a visit to get the answer to numerous questions about your life as an expat, wherever you are. Naturally, we at CampoPulse - and, of course, JimenaPulse - will still be happy to help any way we can.>

If you scroll down you will notice a new feature on the sidebar called Expat Blog. Clicking on the image there you will go to a fascinating site run by expats from all over the world. Registration is easy and participation also. Enjoy!

Haiti: Is there life after death?

(Picture by 'Haitian Masters') Almost a year after he had apparently disappeared, without warning and no further ado, we get an e-mail from our old friend Alexander Bewick, whose blog was a feature of JimenaPulse for quite a while - until he vanished. His e-mail points to an article on his Soap Box, titled as above and dated today, about Haiti, its history and its people. Hard-hitting, it is well worth a read. (We will keep an eye on it -his blog- and maybe renew his 'featureability'.)

JimenaPulse series

We're updating our series. What's that? we hear you ask ... In the early days of JimenaPulse we had time to write a few in-depths items that delved into such things of local interest as Living and Dying in Southern Spain, It's Choreetho not Choritso, Health Care in Jimena and How Did That Cork Get in Your Bottle? As we said, we're updating the information in the series, which also means we're re-designing each one, creating sidebar widgets , re-locating each item to a new address and so on. This takes time, as does the creation of a series from scratch. If you have a suggestion on another item, please let us know and we'll find the time to write and illustrate it (click on the word comments below).

Reader's Question: why do we keep referring to CampoPulse?

... because that is JimenaPulse's partner site that covers the Campo de Gibraltar. CampoPulse is an expansion of our coverage, where we will eventually be transferring (not too soon, don't worry!) all our posts, covering Castellar, Algeciras, La Línea, San Roque, Los Barrios, Tarifa and beyond, as well as Jimena. Not all the posts there appear here, but you can catch up on Campo news: on our sidebar you will see a new section titled 'Did you miss anything on CampoPulse?', which is updated regularly.

How to post a comment

We´ve noticed that we are receiving a lot fewer comments than before. The new system may be just a bit more complicated than the old, but it is designed so that we get hardly any spam, with which we were plagued in the past. Below you will find step-by-step instructions on how to get your comments to us other than by e-mail. Incidentally, we do not publish Anonymous comments (though we've made an exception below as an illustration) but we will publish comments signed with 'nicks' (nicknames) as long as they are not offensive.>

One page per day

Believe it or not, our monkey is still tweaking at this site - and there will be more to come. Today's is a minor item: from now on, this front page will hold only those items published on the day at the top of the page.

JimenaPulse's new CALENDAR OF UPCOMING EVENTS

You may have noticed a new widget on the sidebar. Having figured out how to make it most useful to you, Dear Reader, we are happy to inaugurate our new feature. It's easy to work: you can scroll it up or down for any particular event or day, then click on the event and you will see more details. You can e-mail the whole calendar or a single event to someone you think might be interested in it. It also features a map for things happening off the beaten track but we're still working on that. We would like to include all public events in the area, so if you have something going on PLEASE LET US KNOW!

A grave problem indeed
