JIMENA Long time resident Patricia Lucas (also known as Pat Fender) is holding an exhibition of her fabulous paintings this weekend at the Casa Verde de Agaden (Calle Sevilla 51, just below the town hall) in Jimena from Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 10. Opening hours are from 5 to 9pm. Pat has a magnificent way with wild flowers in her paintings, mostly landscapes - but we really want to know what is new.

For the love of Art
JIMENA It's a time for love, according to the calendar (we thought it was all the time, but Tuesday is Valentine's Day, according to trade and commerce). But this a different kind of LOVE, Carolina tells us from Case Verde Agaden. "We have invited local artists to exhibit for a week," says she. So, the exhibition opened today, and remains so until Friday next, the 17th. Opening hours are the Casa Verde usual: Afternoons from 5 to 9 on weekdays, and all day on weekends. Ah, it is also open all day on Tuesday. (Prospero note: The Casa Verde is one Jimena's prize houses, renovated and maintained by Agaden, the environmental pressure group, with the help of us all: there is a nice little shop and a lovely cup of coffee -or something stronger. Well worth a visit! It's just below the Ayuntamiento on Calle Sevilla.)

Pottery exhibition at Henrietta's
JIMENA Jan Bradley is a potter. She is also a teacher of pottery with a good number of students - and it is they who will be holding the annual exhibition of their work at Casa Henrietta on Friday and Saturday this weekend (then there's Henrietta's Christmas Market on Sunday!). Inauguration is on Friday at 7pm. Once upon a time, the exhibition coincided with the Music Festival, so this is a good alternative time. It is always a pleasure to see how much creativity there is in the village. See you there!

'Taking a look at local art'
'Local' depends on where you're located, of course. We happen to be headquartered in Jimena, so this art exhibition is local to us. However, the place it is being held is well worth a visit, no matter where you're located. La Estación is a restaurant in a little country railway station (San Pablo de Buceite) that is still in use and where we have actually seen people get off the train and carry their suitcase through the bar (they did look a bit surprised, admittedly) - but we're off on a tangent again. Find out more about the artists and their work.
