Work starts on new police station

(Press release) Work began this morning on a new building for Jimena's Local Police. Located between the old silo (under renovation) and the mushroom market at the entrance to the village from the A-405, it will contain offices, changing rooms, easy parking and access to the various surrounding villages, plus more facilities. At present the Local Police work from rented quarters in the centre of Jimena. Work on the new building was delayed because of recent weather and the Council has requested a postponement of its completion date from the Junta's Plan Proteja, expected to take 13 months with a budget of €380,000, according to Councillor Fernando Gómez. Other work in the municipality under the Plan includes a fountain for San Pablo and new pavements and elevated zebra crossings for San Martín del Tesorillo.
