Have you found Snoopy yet?
JIMENA Yesterday, Monday, we posted a picture of the firefighters' building just outside the main village. Snoopy is on there, as we can prove herewith. The idea was to get you, Dear JimenaPulse Reader, to move over to CampoPulse, as this one will be disappearing at the end of the month - that's Thursday! So if you haven't yet put CampoPulse into your Bookmarks /Favourites list, this is the time to do so. Note to advertisers: as from Friday, June 1, your ads will now be appearing exclusively on CampoPulse, which gives you better value for money as the readership increases considerably and your message spreads further. If you have any questions, please e-mail us, or comment below.

Where's Snoopy?
JIMENA Can you find Snoopy on this building? It appears the firefighters were bored one day last week and put up a Snoopy doll somewhere on this building. We'll give you the answer tomorrow, Tuesday. This is a trick so you come back to JimenaPulse again - even though it will soon be transmogrified (merged is a synonym) into CampoPulse because it gets to be boring and tiresome to duplicate items in both places. Have you put CampoPulse into your Favourite/bookmark yet?

What's the point of 'Today's Headlines'?
You don't get Today's Headlines on JimenaPulse, but some, if not most readers will know that it is a daily feature on CampoPulse. But what's the point? Aside from the obvious need to know (if you're interested, anyway) about what's going on in the country we have chosen to live in, there is another point that those who have been brought up in countries with an ostensibly free and objective press may never have experienced. Not all press (the word is Media nowadays, we believe) is as objective as that in the UK, where in any case, it has become less and less so since Prospero worked on Fleet Street. In Spain, after forty years of dictatorship, the press is still heavily influenced by party politics, and in some cases by a radical extremism that is always about to fall off the edge. So, in the corner on the Left, in various weights and conditions>>>

Spanish conversation classes start today - but why bother?
![]() |
You know more than you think! |
Why study Spanish? If you speak Spanish, you can communicate with almost 500 million people worldwide. If you want to travel, a little knowledge of Spanish will go a long way. If you want to do more than just say "¡Buenos días!" to your neighbour or the girl in the supermarket, you can increase your vocabulary and knowledge, string words together more easily, getting it at least partly right - by joining our Spanish Conversation Classes for as little as €10 per week! (Call Alberto on 685 298 820 for more information. There are a few places left, and anyway, you can join at any time.) But here are some more reasons to learn Spanish:>>>

Campo de Gibraltar local elections: RESULTS ON CAMPOPULSE
On CampoPulse you will find all the results for the seven municipalities in the Campo de Gibraltar. The chart on the left gives an overall picture of the municipal elections nationwide, showing the number of councillors for each party throughout Spain. As can be gleaned, the Partido Popular swept in with landslide victories even in such Socialist strongholds as Jimena. In many cases, pacts, agreements or coalitions are being negotiated. We will be offering a municipality by municipality analysis as soon as we can.

OUR APOLOGIES FOR AN ABSENCE OF ITEMS TODAY
We hereby grovel, Dear Reader, in apologies and other such grovellings, but we have had a technical hitch all day with our connectivity. In other words, we have had Internet connectivity issues since early this morning and as it is now thirteen hours later we have decided to shut shop for the rest of the 24 hours and see if we can get back some of the sleep we lost with worry at siesta time. The tech gods willing, we will be back tomorrow as usual.

COMING SOON on CampoPulse!
We are preparing items on the electoral list for each of the Campo's seven municipalities. Given the variety and number of parties taking part in the ELECTIONS ON MAY 22, this is an arduous job that must be published correctly. Other news will be updated as soon as we have put aside earning a living. Watch this space...

What have you missed on CampoPulse?
Despite the fact that we are under the weather (having very carefully clambered out from being under the doctor) and the fact that we are sitting in a cold office that is on loan but is restricted in its heating, (only because we are still offline at our nice warm home for lack of phone-bill-paying funds) and despite the fact that there are children dragging tins all over the place and making one terriffic racket, we have nevertheless been able to bring you a whole lot of items on CampoPulse. These range from the hilarity of a Keystone Cops-type incident in San Roque to the more serious matter of merging gaming companies in Gibraltar; and from the Junta's decision to postpone an important environmental tax to ... well, see for yourself: CampoPulse.

How do you like our new look?
We like/want/need to hear your opinion, Dear Reader. As you know, we're undergoing some changes here and this is merely the beginning of several such that will be taking place during the new year. The same applies to our major partner site, CampoPulse, with which we expect to be able to merge entirely a little later on. PLEASE COMMENT BELOW! (P.S. Is there some reason we don't know about that we're not getting as many comments as usual? Please let us know - and those who do comment regularly, please write in to say how easy it is to comment ... it might help your more reluctant fellow readers.)

Pronouncing Spanish - start at the beginning (IS BACK IN PLACE!)
We know that many readers were following our series on CampoPulse that went through the Spanish alphabet with pronunciation aids and not a little humour. We are pleased to announce that the series is back in its place, and appearing daily on a computer near you. We have taken it up where we left off when we were so rudely interrupted by impecunity (a word you will find to mean penniless, which we still are as we are still offline). Back on November 11, we published the letter O, where we suggest you go to refresh your memory. Bet you can guess the letter illustrated by the image here...
