CODA Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 19

(Received by e-mail) "I have attached a bit of information regarding the choir and orchestra, but the main reason I am writing is to inform you of a concert that we are putting on in the Convento on Saturday 19th December at 19.00 hours. It is going to be a really nice event with the adult orchestra starting off with a Corelli concerto, followed by an Oboe concerto with a visiting oboeist from UK and finishing with a lovely arrangement of various Christmas songs.
"After the interval, we are providing mulled wine (hot) and mince pies.  The first glass of mulled wine is free with the entrance ticket and the very tasty mince pies are 50 cents each.  All the proceeds from this concert are going towards buying a good quality keyboard for use by all the music groups, adult and children, that take place here in Jimena.
The newly formed children´s orchestra from the Music School here will perform a short Christmas Carol medley and this will be followed by the choir, as usual performing to a high standard under the guidance of Yvonne Edge. One new feature will be> the inclusion of three community Christmas Carols which the audience wil be invited to sing along with, accompanied by both the adult and the children´s orchestra (words will be provided).
It promises to be an enjoyable and relaxed concert with the usual expectations of fine playing and singing from all who are performing and we are sure that everybody who attends will come away from it with their hearts full of joy, peace and music!>
"In addition, the children´s music school are putting on their Christmas showpiece this Monday starting at 18.00 in the Casa de la Cultura in Jimena.  All the children will be playing something, form absolute beinners through to the more advance ones.  Also performing will be the brand new Children´s Choir of Jimena as well as the children´s orchestra. Kindest regards, David and Yvonne Higginbottom." (Check our UpComing Events Calendar for more.)
