Jimena's new government: who's who and what do they do?

Jimena Town Hall
The Council of Jimena de la Frontera is selected and already working, although there is no official document as yet to confirm the Councillors' new jobs. Below we offer a photo of each of the governing team, together with the departments they will be heading. It is not unlikely that some of these will change, as they settle in. It is as well to remember that this is the first time in 32 years that any party other than the PSOE has governed here, and that it is much easier to smooth into a job with someone there to hold your hand than to jump in at the deep end. If certain rumours (which we do not spread) are to be believed, certain former councillors and certain Town Hall personnel have had a fine time over this last week, making life difficult for the new kids on the block. It is also well to remember that practically all the Town Hall staff are at least sympathisers if not card-carrying members of the outgoing party. But as we say, these are only rumours.>>>

To begin with, only the Mayor and the First and Second Deputies will be 'liberated' from their regular jobs, which must remain open to them on their return. The Councillor for Economy and Treasury, Pedro Corbacho, who is a teacher at the Instituto, will work full time during his summer holidays ("for free, as the coffers are in a very bad state") and will decide in September whether to ask for leave from his teaching post.

As for Councillors Mena and Sánchez, there is no decision on their 'liberation' as yet. There is a possibility that they may request part-time leave.
