Temporary diversion of Jimena - Puerto Gáliz (A-8201) planned

(Press release) The road behind Jimena (A-8021) that links the village with Puerto Gáliz, Ubrique and eventually the coast, is to have a temporary diversion through country roads at El Potrillo. The road subsided in February due to heavy rains and has been closed to traffic since then, although local farming vehicles are allowed. The diversion will be able to take heavy traffic, which now have to travel all the way to Cortes to reach Jimena. Work on the maihn road is not expected to begin before the summer because the hillside must be stabilised, which cannot be done while it is wet. This was all agreed at a meeting between Mayor Pascual Collado and technicians from Diputación, with the participation of the owner of the land through which the temporary diversion is to be built.
