New sign by the square: a lesson in 'Ñ' and 'Enchufe'

This is how we found the sign by the main square car park announcing work being carried out in Jimena. You will notice that the E in PlanE has that little squiggle on the top, the one that usually crowns an N and becomes that very Spanish letter Ñ, which Spain fought hot and loud to keep on computer keyboards and in the European Parliament. Whoever painted the additional letters was careful to keep the squiggle. The word Enchufe means, aside from 'electrical plug or socket', 'connections in high places' - no doubt an expression of disgust by someone who didn't get a job with Zapatero's PlanE national employment scheme.
