(Press release) Jimena’s Junta Local de Gobierno, or the Council’s government, recently approved plans for a new police station to be built close to the entrance to Jimena, at Avenida de los Deportes 65, where the
silo-cum-museum-cum-Laja Alta- study centre-to-be stands. This will replace the
‘illegal’ station (photo) now functioning just below the Town Hall.> A two-story structure is planned, with a budget of €380,000 from the Junta de Andalucía’s Employment Transition Programme (PROTEJA in its Spanish acronym). This programme orders that all projects under its aegis must be finished by mid-2010. The project will generate some 1900 work days of local employment.
