Jimena's annual May Fair (Feria de Mayo) got under way yesterday with the cork gatherer's competition, which consists of a race that involves tying together a load of cork bark and running with it. Competitors included people whose livelihood this is (See How did that cork get in your bottle?). Despite the weather, which dawned with a spittle of rain, the morning was more of an excuse to spend some time with colleagues and friends. See more photos below (and today's programme here).
