Study: 'Algeciras, one of the worst Spanish cities'

(Agencies) ALGECIRAS - The town has been placed 77th out of 78 Spanish cities in a study made by pollster Merco Ciudad, which polled 9,000 people throughout the country. Last placed is Santa Coloma de Gramenet in Catalonia. The study, carried out in September and October, covered a variety of items such as employment offers, pollution, traffic, political management, security, cleanliness, price levels, entertainment, transport, health and cultural facilities and climate, among others. Algeciras received 233, while top ranking Madrid got 1,000, followed by Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza and Bilbao. As to the rest of the province of Cádiz, Jerez takes 44th place and Cádiz, 53rd. The poll also evaluated public perception of the mayors, resulting in Algeciras Mayor Tomás Herrera coming 69th out of the 78.
