400 tonnes of fuel removed from El Rinconcillo beach after 'Shenzen' spill

(Agencies / Photo: EuropaSur) Some 400 tonnes of residue, mostly of fuel oil, have been removed from the beach at El Rinconcillo, in Algeciras. The Government Delegation announced that 76 people are on duty to clean up the mess caused by a spillage from the Shenzhen container ship last Wednesday. The ship was manouvering into moorings at the Cernaval container plant when its port side hit the concrete and slashed one of its fuel tanks. The black fuel soon spread despite emergency procedures in place almost immediately.
