JIMENA (First published on 20/09/08) The first rain of the season is all too often marked by an increase in road accidents. The technical reason is that the oil accumulated in the pores of the road over the summer rises to the surface making it very slippery. The main reason, however, is that drivers fail to adapt to the new conditions and travel much too fast. Two recent accidents, one in Jimena and the other in Tesorillo illustrate the point.
