Analog TV to close down on December 15

The Secretary of Communications has announced that analog television will close down in the Campo de Gibraltar on December 15th, two weeks earlier than expected. The new Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT, or Terrestial Digital Television) will therefore become operative on that date. If you haven't yet bought the little black box, or your TV set isn't prtepared for it, now is the time to do so. If you have satellite TV, or code boxes such as Digital TV, you should not be affected by the change. Thus, the municipalities of Algeciras, Los Barrios, Castellar, Jimena, La Línea and San Roque, which receive their signal from the repeater station on Sierra Carbonera, will no longer get it. The exception is Tarifa. The change-over has been ongoing in stages throughout the country and is expected to be fully completed by April 2010.
